Index Data co-founder Sebastian Hammer will attend the BIBFRAME Workshop in Europe 2024 held in Helsinki from September 17th to 18th. He will present at a session titled “Practical Use Cases for Shared Bibliographic Infrastructure.” The talk will delve into the ever-present role of bibliographic data sharing in library operations, including collections management, cataloging, discovery, and resource sharing. Sebastian will address the need for a cohesive infrastructure to replace the current fragmented MARC technologies, which are essential for BIBFRAME’s success.

During his session, Sebastian will explore open, collaborative infrastructure projects and their intersections with the bibliographic universe. He will provide updates on the integration between the Share Family platform and the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) and discuss the metadata requirements of other initiatives. This talk promises to offer valuable insights into the functional needs of the future bibliographic ecosystem.

This workshop is a crucial forum for exchanging knowledge about BIBFRAME implementation practices, focusing on the practical transition from MARC to Linked Data. We look forward to the stimulating discussions and innovative ideas that will emerge from this event, and we’re proud to have Sebastian representing Index Data at such a key workshop. See you in Helsinki!
