Index Data  >  Technologies  >  Integration of web resources

We provide tools and services that allow different sources of information on the Internet to be seamlessly integrated into single, coherent systems.

A major problem with the Internet as it exists today is that, while many information resources are available, they are presented by a wide variety of different mechanisms. Databases may be made available as:
  • Z39.50 servers
  • OAI repositories
  • SRW servers
  • Other SOAP-based web services
  • Servers using bespoke XML-over-HTTP protocols
  • Internet-accessible relational databases
  • Human-oriented web UIs
And no doubt there are many other possibilities.

Our extensive knowledge of information standards including Z39.50, HTTP and XML, and our decade-long experience with information systems of all kinds uniquely positions us to integrate information resources of all these kinds and more into systems that, from the user's perspective, are simple, robust and easy to use.

We've completed projects for many high-profile clients that have involved information integration of this kind; we have field experience with all the kinds of data source listed above and more.

We are also able to offer information integration and translation as a stand-alone service. For example, an organisation with access to a human-oriented web UI to an on-line database might wish to make the same information available via Z39.50. We can either build a gateway for such an organisation to run, or take care of the hosting as well, simply providing a Z39.50 service.
